The 2026 Volkswagen Atlas comes in four trims: Comfortline 4MOTION, Peak Edition 4MOTION, Highline 4MOTION, and Execline 4MOTION. All four share the same 2.0 L 4-cylinder turbocharged TSI engine producing 269 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque, standard 4MOTION All-Wheel Drive on every single trim, and a braked towing capacity of 5,000 lbs (2,268 kg). All seat seven and offer 2,735 litres of cargo space with the seats folded down.
The 2026 Atlas also earned a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating and a 2025 IIHS TSP+ Award — recognition that applies across the full lineup. Where the trims diverge is in comfort equipment, technology, interior materials, and exterior character. Here's exactly what each trim delivers.
The Comfortline is the entry point to the Atlas lineup — and it arrives with a substantial feature set right out of the gate.
Performance & Capability
Exterior
The Comfortline rides on 18" Miami machined alloy wheels (all-season tires 245/60 R18 105T) with LED headlights with Adaptive Front-light System, poor-weather lights with cornering lights, LED tail lights, dark tinted rear glass, and black roof rails. A compact spare tire is included.
Interior
Leatherette-seating surfaces with a 10-way power driver seat and a 6-way manual front passenger seat. Heated front seats, 60/40 split-folding second-row seats with Easy Access to the third row, auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, ventilated front seats, 2-way driver power lumbar support, and a leatherette multi-function heated steering wheel with shift paddles.

Hill Hold Assist and Hill Descent Control, Front Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (pedestrian and cyclist monitoring), Side Assist with Active Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Traffic Alert, Travel Assist (Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist), Electronic Stability Control, full airbag suite including front and rear Side Curtain Protection, Direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, and child safety lock.

The Peak Edition builds from the Comfortline and adds a rugged exterior character with a distinct set of interior upgrades. It's the trail-ready trim in the lineup.
What the Peak Edition Adds Over Comfortline
On the outside, the Peak Edition switches to 18" Magnum black alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tires (255/60 R18 108T) — the only Atlas trim with all-terrain rubber — and adds exterior illuminated light lines and emblems front and rear, plus Peak Edition exterior design badging.
Inside, the Peak Edition brings a noticeably more refined environment: aluminum door scuff plates, brushed stainless steel pedals, a cargo cover, interior footwell lighting, interior ambient lighting customizable up to 30 colours, and second-row sunshades. A 115V power outlet at the rear of the centre console is added here and not found on the Comfortline.
On safety, the Peak Edition adds additional warning lights in the door areas (front and rear) for improved visibility in low-light conditions.
Note: The Peak Edition retains the Comfortline's 6-speaker audio system and leatherette seating surfaces — the Harman Kardon upgrade and leather seats begin at the Highline.
The Highline represents a significant step up in both technology and luxury. This is where leather seating, Harman Kardon audio, a panoramic sunroof, and the Area View 360° camera system all become standard.
What the Highline Adds Over Peak Edition
Exterior upgrades include silver roof rails, a panoramic power sunroof, and 20" Atlanta machined alloy wheels (all-season tires 255/50 R20 105T). Heated exterior mirrors with power-autofolding, memory, and reverse tilt-down function are added at this level.
The interior takes a significant leap: leather-seating surfaces replace leatherette, the driver seat becomes a 10-way power unit with memory function, and the front passenger seat upgrades to 8-way power. Heated front and outer rear seats are standard. The Highline adds the Harman Kardon Premium Audio System with 10 speakers plus subwoofer, Navigation "Discover Pro," and the Area View 360° camera system.
On safety, Dynamic Road Sign Display and dynamic headlights with cornering lights are added.

The Execline is the top trim in the 2026 Atlas lineup. It adds premium leather seating, massaging front seats, a Head-Up Display, Park Assist, R Line exterior design, and larger 21" wheels.
What the Execline Adds Over Highline
The exterior moves to 21" Din machined alloy wheels (all-season tires 265/45 R21 104T) and adopts the R Line exterior design. Inside, the Execline upgrades to premium leather-seating surfaces, ventilated front seats with massage function, and power-adjustable lumbar support for the front seats. The steering wheel steps up to a leather multi-function heated unit with shift paddles.
On technology, Park Assist for semi-automated parking manoeuvres and a Head-Up Display that projects key driving information onto the windshield are added exclusively at the Execline level.
