PERFORMANCE

The Jetta, to the surprise of MotorTrend editors, accelerated quicker than expected reaching 60mph in 7.6 seconds. Impressive when compared to the Civic which accelerated from 0 to 60mph in 8.6 seconds.

Both models offer manual transmissions with the Civic also offering a CVT and the Jetta an eight-speed automatic.

INTERIOR SPACE

SAFETY

Unlike the Toyota Corolla, the Volkswagen Jetta comes with a suite of standard advanced safety features including post-collision braking, optional blind-spot warning and an optional cross-path warning system. While both sedan models offer the standard driver and passenger frontal, front side-impact and side-impact airbags, the Corolla does not come with many of the safety features found within the Jetta.

FUEL ECONOMY & RANGE

Perfect for those long days on the road, the Volkwagen Jetta comes with available Start/Stop features. What is Start/Stop? In heavy traffic or at stoplights, the Jetta’s engine with automatically turn off (saving fuel and reducing pollution) and automatically restarts when the driver gets ready to move again.

The Toyota Corolla does not come with this feature.

CARGO CAPACITY & PASSENGER SPACE

The 2019 Volkswagen Jetta has a larger trunk (14.1 cubic feet) when compared to the 2018 Toyota Corolla (13 cubic feet) and overall greater passenger space.

While both sedan models come standard with driver & passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags and side-impact head airbags, the Mazda 3 doesn’t offer a post-collision braking system.
